The All Progressives Congress, APC, has boasted that it will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in coming elections in Bauchi State, despite the defection by some of its members.

The party made the boast at the Bauchi Central Zonal solidarity rally‎ to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Mohammed Abubakar.

The rally was held at Misau, headquarters of Misau local government area of Bauchi State.

Bauchi central zone consists of Misau‎, Dambam, Ganjuwa, Darazo, Ningi and Warji local government areas.

It could be recalled that the senator representing Bauchi Central, Senator Isah Hamma Misau, recently defected to the PDP alongside Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki‎ and others.

Other elected members from the zone that defected include Salisu Zakari Ningi, the member representing, Ningi/Warji federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the rally, Bauchi State APC chairman, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana, said that the party would remain united to confront challenges.

He said that plans had been perfected by the opposition and others to destabilise the party ahead ‎of the 2019 general elections.

Nana, who was represented by his deputy, Mohammed Hassan Tilde, said that people should dismiss the notion that President Muhammadu Buhari was executing more capital projects in the southern part of the country.

He said the president was completing projects that had already been earmarked for execution or completion by the previous government.

‎He said that the rally was organised to support to President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Mohammed Abubakar for their re-election bid in 2019.

He further informed that they had nothing to do with the recent defection ‎of their senator, Isah Hammah Misau, and others from the APC to the opposition PDP.
