Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has called on Nigerians to rise up and replace President Muhammadu Buhari with Atiku Abubakar since he has demonstrated incapacity to provide the promised change to the country.
Ortom who made the call Thursday, while addressing his cheering supporters during his campaign tour to Buruku and Gboko local governments said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was now a reformed party and having learnt from its past mistakes is back to save the country’s democracy from doom.
He said the 2019 elections was strongly about preserving and sustaining the nation’s democracy, emphasizing that APC lacked the capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizens.
Gov. Ortom recalled that the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari had confirmed the incapacity of the president when she said, “her husband was no longer in charge of governance at Aso Rock but a cabal.
“She had also stated that Nigeria was too brave to be run by a cabal. I duff my cap for her”, Ortom said.
“We did not vote for the cable in Aso Rock but for Buhari and since he is no longer capable, will replace him with Atiku.”
He also advised the people of Gboko and Buruku to replace ineffectiveness of Senator George Akume with Hon. Orker Jev for the Benue Northeast Senatorial Seat, (Zone B).
The governor appreciated the people for their unwavering support during the primary elections and called on them to work hard and vote the PDP and all its candidates in the forthcoming polls.
Also speaking, former Senate President, Dr Iyorchia Ayu stated that any vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming general elections was a vote for fascism.
Ayu called on all Benue people to vote Atiku for President, Ortom for governor as well as all other PDP candidates saying with this single line voting, the Benue people would have answered the national call to vote out fascism from power.
He noted with displeasure that since Buhari came to power with the change slogan, things have changed for the worse.
“Since he came in, women are dying of childbirth, there are killings everywhere, youth unemployment, prices of food and fuel have gone up, judiciary, National Assembly have been under attack. We need to vote them out else they will break Nigeria into two”.
Ayu who is on Atiku’s national campaign team reported that the presidential candidate of the party has overwhelming support from Nigerians and expressed optimism that victory for the PDP is sure.

He further advised Benue voters to vote, stay and defend their votes for Atiku, Ortom and all candidates of the party for a better Nigeria and a greater Benue.
The Senatorial Candidate of the PDP for Benue Northwest (Zone B), Hon Orker Jev assured Ortom of massive support of the people of Buruku to all PDP candidates during the elections.
Jev urged the people to vote against Senator Akume whom he said has pitched tent with the Fulanis to bring hardship on citizens of the state, noting that the defection of Buruku caucus of the SDP to the PDP marks the end of opposition in the local government.
State Chairman of the PDP, John Ngbede urged the people to vote all PDP candidates insisting that they must also stay behind to keep watch to ensure their votes are counted.
At Buruku local government, SDP caucus of the local government decamped to the PDP and were received by Gov. Samuel Ortom and State Chairman of the Party, John Ngbede.
Governor Ortom on arrival at Bururku and Gboko received Royal blessings from the traditional institutions in the two local governments. He also paid homage to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the various local governments.
