President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to Nigerians, especially those in Benue state to vote only the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the forthcoming general election.

Nigeria’s President and 2019 presidential candidate of the APC stated this when he addressed Benue people at Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi during his re-election campaign rally.

President Buhari said his second tenure will give him another opportunity to further reposition the economic fortunes of the country to stand the test of time.

The President, who arrived the Aper Aku Stadium at exactly 12:20pm amid cheers and loud hailing of “Sai Baba,” “Sai Buhari,” from supporters recalled his 2015 campaign promises to boost Nigeria’s economy, provide adequate security and fight corruption.

He stated that he has filfilled all these promises and will do more if given another opportunity in the forthcoming elections.

“By 2015, Boko Haram had overran the country and seized over 70 local governments but as at today, with the help of our military, they are holding none. We have empowered our farmers through subsidies and today we have gained food security.

President Buhari, who noted that it was much difficult fighting corruption in Nigeria, stated that his administration has intensified its efforts and all those found culpable would be made to face the law.

He thanked Benue people for their warm reception adding “I am not going to change. I will remain consistent and steadfast in this fight. On election days, vote APC top to bottom and may God give us another opportunity to serve.”

Leader of the APC in Benue and Senatorial candidate of the party for Zone B, Senator George Akume, recalled that in 2015, President Buhari had made a covenant in three core areas including economy, security and corruption.

“He said if you don’t kill corruption, it will kill you and indeed, corruption was killing this country before he came. PDP shared money meant to fight corruption and insecurity. Today, many are running away from their monies in banks because this great Nigerian, (Buhari) is on their trail.”

Akume commended Buhari for managing the Nigerian economy very well pledging that Benue people love him and will queue behind him on the election day.

Sen. Akume, who insisted that the Benue people have no problems with a Fulani president said “we have no problems with the Fulani. I was governor for eight years and we didn’t have any problems with Fulani. So, people shouldn’t lie.

He alleged that the PDP has the most notorious militia in the guise of livestock guards saying the governor has further equipped them with AK 47 with which they are using to kill people in the state.

He therefore urged the president to detail adequate security to Benue during the elections to ensure violent free and fair elections.

The National chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole said the country needed leaders who would contribute to the development of the country not those who would continue to wallow in self pity and blame others for their failures.

“I believe the incoming governor of Benue Jime will pay salaries, take a cue from Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong and get the Benue people to live together in peace and harmony with others.

“Nigeria is a country that God has ordained to be great. Our leaders must not blame people for their own failure. Nigeria cannot return to second hand. PDP want to provoke a fight but we will not fight them physically but with our PVCs”, Oshiomhole said.
