Sen. Buruji Kashamu, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Ogun, has described his emergence on INEC’s final list of candidates released on Thursday as a victory for resilience.

Reacting through his spokesperson, Austin Onyikor, the senator representing Ogun-East Senatorial District, said that “there was no victor, no vanquished,” despite the announcement and urged party faithful to join hands and work together for victory at the polls.

According to him, with the publication of the final list of candidates by INEC, “it was incumbent on all lovers of the party to close ranks and work to deliver Ogun for PDP.”

He commended INEC and the judiciary for standing firm on the side of justice and the rule of law.

“Like I said recently, we are members of the same family. We may have our differences in the past. At the end of the day, it is the party that wins not any individual or group.

“We have to come together and work to deliver Ogun for PDP in all the elections.

“As the governorship candidate of the party, my doors are wide open. I am willing, able and ready to work with all in the overall interest of our party and people,” he said.

Meanwhile, the governorship and National Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers and Zamfara states are missing from INEC’s final list.

This may not be unconnected with the pronouncements of a Federal High Court in Abuja stopping the party from presenting candidates in Rivers and Zamfara due to its inability to resolve its internal crises on the conduct of its primaries.

Also the Social Democratic Party, SDP, had no presidential and vice-presidential candidates listed. This, according to INEC was due to the court order which nullified the candidature of former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, as the party’s presidential candidate and instead recognised Prof. Jerry Gana.

The only comment written in front of the SDP was, “Court order. Party yet to submit name of candidate.”
