Ahead of their round of 16 clash with Germany later today, the Super Falcons have received a morale booster with a phone call from President Muhammadu Buhari, who wished them well.

Aisha Falode, Head of Nigeria Women Football League, speaking on a Brila FM programme, said the President reminded the Falcons that Nigeria had not come this far in the Women’s World cup in the past 20 years and urged them to make the nation proud by advancing beyond this stage.

Buhari, she said, told the girls that Nigerians were expecting them to bring home the Cup at the end of the tournament.

The Super Falcons qualified for the round of 16 as the best losers.

Recall that President Buhari had also called on the Super Eagles playing at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt to do the nation proud and lift the cup.
