Strong indications emerged on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari is going to run for the Presidency come 2019 as his campaign takes off in South West of the country soon.

The Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, made this known on Wednesday when he spoke with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Shittu who emerged after a meeting with the president said the campaign for the president’s re-election had begun disclosed that the campaign office of the president in the South West would soon be set up.

While pointing out that Buhari’s supporters would prevail on him to seek re-election, he said January 20 had been fixed for the inauguration of the campaign office in the South West.

He also revealed that the ‘Buhari/Osinbajo Dynamic Support Group’ had made him the national chairman of its board of trustees.

“It goes without saying. I mean if you have a child who goes to primary school and he does well, he proceeds to secondary school and he does well, and you keep asking if he will be going to university. It goes without saying.

“By the grace of God, we his (Buhari’s) ardent supporters who appreciate his worth on behalf of millions of Nigerians would urge him to re-contest.

“I know he has not made up his mind but I can say that some of us can assist him in making up his mind so that Nigeria can continue to enjoy stability and progress in our land.”

Speaking on the achievements of the president since he came to office, Shittu said he had shown commitment to the cause of providing relief for Nigerians generally.

He said Buhari had proved his worth “in the area of fighting corruption, insurgency whether in the north-east or the Niger Delta; in the area of repairing the economy and providing jobs and providing social stability in the society.”

He said but for Buhari insurgency would have over-run the country.

The campaign for the president is becoming more pronounced barely two days after Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka warned Buhari not to run for the Presidency in 2019 except he changed his ways.

He warned that he would be disgraced if he did comes  out to contest.

Mbaka, it would be recalled predicted that Buhari would defeat former President Goodluck Jonathan, an incumbent, ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

Mbaka criticized Buhari in his New Year message, stressing that he was rather sluggish.

According to him, Nigerians had undergone too much pain under the current leadership.

Particularly, he said some persons had hijacked the administration of the country from Buhari.
