There was commotion at the National Assembly on Tuesday as some protesters stormed the complex.
They were however stopped by security operatives who shut the gate.
Led by its convener, Mr. Ibrahim Wala, the protesters who operated under aegis of the group, Citizens Actions to Take Back Nigeria, opposed the changes made to the 2018 budget by the National Assembly before it was passed to President Muhammadu Buhari for the final approval.
The placard carrying group claimed that members of the National Assembly were not adequately representing the people of the country.
According to the protesters, the people were not benefitting from the constituency projects executed by the legislators.
They accused the legislators of conniving with contractors to embezzle the fund for the projects.
They also called for the resignation of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki.
Speaking during the protest, the convener, Wala, said: “The worst of it is what we are seeing in the 2018 budget; these people inserted thousands of items.

“We are here representing the entire citizens of this country; the crowd you see here represents the voices of Nigerians.
“Nigerians want a situation whereby when we vote individuals into office they should work for the people and not represent their own interests.”
None of the leaders of the National Assembly attended to the protesters.
It would be recalled that during the signing of the 2018 budget, President Muhammadu Buhari criticized the National Assembly for carrying out some changes in the allocations.
According to the president, the changes were without consideration for the implementation of the budget.
The National Assembly has since replied, saying the changes were within their power as provided for in the constitution.
The legislators said the chances were in the interest of the generality of Nigerians.
