Former media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has criticised, among other things, the allocation of N4.9 billion of the 2018 budget to maintain electrical equipment at Aso Rock Villa.
He said the Presidency was only legalising corruption as the allocation was rather too much for the purpose it was designed for.
He said the allocation had made the anti-corruption war a huge joke which had not made anyone to laugh.
He wrote on his twitter handle: “The N4.9 billion budgeted to maintain electrical equipment at Aso Rock Villa can buy new electrical equipment and still have change.
“Even the White House does not spend that much in maintaining electrical equipment. Buhari’s anti-corruption war is a joke, but no one is laughing.
“If a thief wants to divert attention, he would be the first to shout “thief” so people would suspect others, not him.
“This precisely explains Buhari. He came in accusing others of corruption, then legalised by budgeting criminal things like N1.1 billion to clean an office succeeded.”
The Director General, Budget Office, Ben Akabueze, had a couple of weeks back explained why it earmarked N4.9billion for annual electrical maintenance in the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.

He said the Presidential Villa was quite an expansive edifice with several residences and support services which would require that amount of money to maintain
“As significant as N4.9 billion sounds, it is not too much to keep those facilities in top shape. Anyone who has been to the villa will appreciate that it is one of the best maintained edifice in the country,” he said.
He also justified the proposed N2.2bn earmarked for the DSS for a supposed social media mining suite and another N1.14bn proposed budget for cleaning and fumigation of the Office of the National Security Adviser.
