COVID-19: Rep Tasks Nigerians On Strict Adherence To Guidelines

A federal lawmaker in the House of Representatives, Sam Onuigbo (PDP, Abia), has called on his constituents and Nigerians to strictly adhere to all precautionary measures outlined by the government and health professionals in the effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The lawmaker, who stated this during a sensitisation campaign in his Ikwuano/Umuahia North-South Federal Constituency in Abia State, also distributed hand washing materials and sanitisers to the constituents.

He said it was his responsibility as their representative to ensure that they were properly educated on how to combat the pandemic.

A statement on Thursday quoted him as challenging his constituents and Nigerians to key into the health guidelines issued by government and health professionals, while urging them to observe personal hygiene.

He also used the occasion to distribute personal protective kits to health workers, market and transport unions and other select groups in his constituency as part of contributions towards the prevention and containment of the spread of the Covid-19.

He said: “The gesture will assist the beneficiaries, which include the health workers, the media and the populace to protect themselves.”

He commended the Federal Government for the proactive steps so far taken in combating the spread of the virus.

The statement also quoted Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi, who responded on behalf of the beneficiaries, as commending the foresight and thoughtfulness of the lawmaker.
