The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has advised Imo and Abia state government to publicise its isolation centres to the public, saying it will help emergency workers and others to be proactive in case of any emergency.
Head of Imo/Abia operations office of the agency, Mr. Evans Ugoh, gave the advice shortly after interacting with citizens of the two states and visit to disaster stakeholders.
He said the need to publicise isolation centres of the two states to the public became necessary following insinuations that those of the states were unknown to the people.
Ugoh expressed regrets that the masses were still unaware of isolation centres for the two states, even as he urged the governments to immediately address the issue.
He said: “My visit to disaster stakeholders and private chats with people living in the state show that government was yet to disclose its isolation centres.

“The people also demanded to have emergency contact numbers in case of any suspicion of the virus.”
Ugoh further expressed satisfaction over level of compliance to the stay-at-home order declared by the two states.
He said in time of emergency, everybody had vital role to play, adding that if contact numbers and isolation centres were not properly publicised, it would be difficult to handle any emergency over the Coronavirus case in the two states.
He, however, advised the public to ensure strict observance of the rules of keeping safe.
