COVID-19: Garba Shehu Tests Negative

Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has tested negative to the deadly Coronavirus disease.

Shehu disclosed this on his verified Twitter account in Abuja on Saturday.

He advised all citizens to stay at home as recommended by relevant authorities to guide against the spread of the virus.

His tweet read: “I think it is only fair that I ease the fears of my friends and relations with whom I made recent contacts about the coronavirus. Fake news media had said all sorts of rubbish about me and the President I work for.

“My test proved negative for the virus. Notwithstanding, I advise everyone that we continue the isolation and work from home.”

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country has soared to 97.

This followed the confirmation of eight new cases by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday night.

The Centre disclosed that currently Lagos has 59 cases; FCT- 16; Ogun- 3; Enugu- 2; Ekiti- 1 and Oyo- 7.

Others are; Edo- 2, Bauchi- 2, Osun-2, Rivers-1, Benue- 1 and Kaduna- 1.

Lagos remains the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria.
