Coronavirus: Nigeria Closes Down 3 International Airports

The Federal Government has ordered the closure of three international airports in the country with effect from Saturday, March 21.

Enugu Int’l Airport

This was announced in a statement signed by the director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu on Friday.

The affected airports are Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano; Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu; and the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

The government said the closure was part of precautionary measures to curtail the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic.

Kano Airport

According to Nuhu, the three airports would be closed till further notice.

He said however, that the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos would remain open but no flight from the 13 COVID-19 high-risk countries would be allowed into the country.
