Governor Emmanuel stated this at Ibom International Airport while fielding questions from Government House correspondents shortly on arrival from Abuja where he attended the non-elective congress of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said that his administration was closing in on the provision of facilities that would aid in the state development and mentioned the facilities to< include education, health care system, security and basic infrastructure.

According to him, “We promised our people that we would not joke with education, health care system and all the basic things.

“As we aggravate towards the full commencement of Engineering faculties in the state tertiary institutions especially the Polytechnic and University, we also need to equip our people with science courses. That is why we are doing the first set of recruitment of science teachers into secondary schools for teaching of science subjects and we’ll do a lot more.”

The governor who noted that the country’s economy was on the path of recovery explained that adequate preparation was necessary in order to key into the new economy.

“I am one of those that have full confidence in the economy. As we move towards the last quarter of the year, the economy should be back on the path of recovery, we need to also build capacity, that is why you are seeing a lot of house-keeping facilities in place,” Governor Emmanuel  explained.

Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, and some members of the State Executive Council were on hand to receive the governor.
