Ensure Transparency In Education Funding, FG, States Urged

The federal and state governments have been advised to ensure that the nation’s educational system conforms to the international standard through adequate funding.

The governments are also urged to ensure that funds made available for the educational sector are utilised for the intended purposes.

Addressing newsmen at the just concluded three-day Christmas Carol organised by the Lekki British School (LBS), the school’s Executive Director, Mr. Christian Idehen,  said the issue of honesty and integrity should be addressed for its impact to show in the educational system.

He noted that governments “are quick to approve schools regardless of the available facilities, adding that the trend will water down the quality.”

He called on the government to support private schools qualitatively to ensure “getting a world class educational institutions in place.”

On the vision and goal of the school, Mr. Idehen said, “The vision and goal of the founder of the school, the late Dr. Biodun Laja, was to replicate the best of British education in Nigeria.”

He said, “Our vision and goal is to prepare our students to become valuable members of global community. We prepare our students for a Global future now that the world is a global village.

“Our students must be confident and have something to contribute anywhere in the world. We are equipping the students as best as we can so that they can face whatever situation they found themselves in future.”

Explaining why British educational curriculum was adopted wholesale in the Lekki British School (LBS), Mr. Idehen said, “we choose the British Education Curriculum because it is respected all over the world.”

He advised parents to be on the same page with the school authority, adding, “we are determined to deliver world class education in Nigeria and I know you parents want the best education for your children.”
