The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 623 senior Police Officers to their next ranks.
This was disclosed in a statement by the commission’s Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, who revealed that 40 Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to Commissioners of Police; 98 Assistant Commissioners were promoted to Deputy Commissioners while 150 Chief Superintendents were promoted Assistant Commissioners.
The statement also disclosed that 335 Superintendents were promoted to rank of Chief Superintendents.

Furthermore the statement said the promotions were strictly based on seniority, merit, availability of vacancies and clean record of service.
Ani said the promotions were one of the highpoints of the 7th Plenary Meeting of the Commission held in Abuja between Friday, December 20th and Saturday December 21st, 2019 and presided over by Commission Chairman, Musiliu Smith, retired Inspector General of Police.
He quoted the Mr. Smith as urging the beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to greater commitment to national development by upholding the ethics and rules of the Force.
Smith assured that the Commission would continue to ensure that deserving police Officers were promoted as and when due.
