Two armed bandits have been killed by personnel of the joint task force of Operation Zenda, an elite security outfit created by Benue state police command.
The bandits were killed during a gun duel with men of operation Zenda led by SP Justine Gbyindye, along Ugbema –Jato-Aka road axis in Kwande local government area of Benue.
While the police shot and killed two, some of the gang members were said to have fled with gun wounds.
The killed armed bandits were among the notorious kidnappers, armed robbers who were terrorizing neighbouring communities until last week Thursday when they were killed after information revealed that same gang were operating in a neighbourhood.

It will be recalled that Operation Zenda, the state police outfit created by the command years back were responsible for the discovery of 16 shallow graves some weeks ago.
They also uncovered the remains of a policeman’s wife who was killed and buried in a rice farm in Ukum local government area of the state a week ago.
Items recovered from the gang were a sub machine gun, live ammunition, cartridges, phones and charms.
One of the officer who did not disclosed his name told journalists that the police is on the trail of the fleeing gang members saying “very soon they would be apprehended and brought to book.”
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Catherine Anene said she was indisposed as at the time of filing this report.
