EastEnders star Shane Richie has gloated that Thomas Cook going bust is “karma”.
The actor tweeted his views at the travel company this morning – just hours after the shock announcement was made.
It comes as the sudden closure has led to thousands of jobs being axed and an estimated 150,000 holidaymakers being stranded abroad.
The tweet – which was dubbed “disgusting” by a follower – follows the telly star threatening to sue Thomas Cook last year.
Another person blasted: “You do realise normal people who have saved all year have lost money here?”
Following his trip abroad, Richie spoke out about a ‘holiday from hell’ where he allegedly complained about having to “queue for eggs.”
And the 55-year-old dubbed the two-week trip to the five-star Moon Palace Resort in Mexico ‘f***ing horrendous’.
He said: “It was a holiday from hell. It cost thousands. It was supposed to be a holiday of a lifetime,” the 55-year-old told The Sun of the luxe resort which was recommended to him by a friend.
“I was taking my in-laws for 17 nights. It was my worst nightmare. It was f***ing horrendous. I got spanked by them.”
At the time, he complained: “At just 10.30am in the morning we were all sat by the luxury pool and there was a DJ on with drum and bass.
“They didn’t mention that in the programme when we were booking it. Loads of things happened.”
But the 55-year-old has attracted a flurry of criticism on social media following his tweet.
One follower said: “Not nice have a thought for all the staff who have lost their jobs shame on you.”
And YouTuber Ian Walker blasted: What an utterly silly little man you are @realshanerichie. Desperate for more publicity.
Another added: “Yeah 20000 people losing their jobs is karma cos your entitled arse didn’t get a holiday you wanted. What a shocking human being you are.”
