Katsina Village Head Injured, Wife, Children Abducted In Fresh Bandit Attack

Some bandits at the weekend attacked Yandaka village in Batsari local government area of Katsina state, injuring the village head in the process.

The bandits also abducted the wife and three children of the village head from his residence during the attack which occurred on Saturday, August 31.

This was confirmed by the spokesman, Katisna Police command, Isah Gambo.

“It is true that he (the village head) was attacked and some of his children were kidnapped as well,” he said.

Daily Trust reports that Shehu Iliyasu was critically injured as he was said to have been shot in the head and hand.

Sources within the community said the village head was rushed to a hospital in Katsina but was later referred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for a brain surgery. A source said: “He is currently in a critical condition because of the bullet wounds.”
