Ivan Perisic has scored his first goal for Bayern Munich on his and Philippe Coutinho’s home debut as the German champions came from behind to thrash Mainz 6-1 in the Bundesliga.
Both Perisic and Coutinho were in the starting line-up for the first time as Benjamin Pavard, David Alaba, Kingsley Coman, Robert Lewandowski and Alphonso Davies scored on Saturday to move Bayern to seven points after three matches.
Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Socceroo Brandon Borrello’s Freiburg all dropped points for the first time this season, while Schalke clinched a first home league win since January by beating Hertha Berlin 3-0.
Freiburg slipped to a late 2-1 defeat at home to promoted Cologne, who earned their first points of the season, Leverkusen and visiting Hoffenheim were goalless, while Wolfsburg finished 1-1 against promoted Paderborn.
RB Leipzig – 3-1 winners at Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday – stay top on a maximum nine points, and could be joined by Borussia Dortmund, who are at promoted Union Berlin in the day’s later game.
