Judges of the Federal High Courts in Nigeria have commenced their annual long vacation for the year.
A circular signed by the Chief Registrar, Federal High Court Lagos, Mr. Emmanuel Gako, said the 2019 long vacation commenced on Monday, July 8, and will end on September 13, 2019.
The circular also stated that normal court activities will resume on September 16.
Furthermore, the stated that only the court divisions in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt will function during the vacation, adding that litigants were at liberty to approach any of the three courts.
It however stressed that only cases of extreme importance would be entertained by the vacation judges.
The circular named Justice Nicholas Oweibo and Professor Chuka Obiozor as vacation judges in Lagos.
It explained that Abuja division will cater to cases from the Federal Capital Territory, North Central, North Western, and the North Eastern parts of the country, the Lagos division would adjudicate on matters from the South West, while the Port Harcourt division would handle cases from the South-South and South East.
