Chief Adebayo Faleti, renowned actor, broadcaster, poet and writer is dead.
Faleti died at about 6.00 a.m. Sunday the University College Hospital, Ibadan at the age of 86.
An old student of Ibadan Boys High School, Adebayo Faleti was one of the pioneer staff of Western Nigeria Television, the first television station in Africa.
Highly respected for his knowledge in the use of Yoruba language, Adebayo Faleti translated Nigeria’s National Anthem to Yoruba from English.
He received both local and international awards including Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
