Istanbul Basaksehir’s Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed why his contract at Real Madrid was not made permanent.

The Togo international joined Los Blancos on loan from Manchester City for the closing part of the 2010 -11 season with an option for the Santiago Bernabeu giants keeping him.

But the Spanish giants opted not to make his deal permanent, thereby forcing the former Arsenal forward back to England.

The forward went public with his struggles with family members after via a lengthy Facebook post in 2015, which caused mixed reactions.

And in yet another revealing session, the marksman accused his late sibling of aiding Real Madrid’s decision.

“It is a tough one, it is a difficult one,” Adebayor told BBC Sport.

“Today, I think I made the right decision to go public because of what I have been through.

“People will say you have to keep it for yourself but I have done everything to stay in Real Madrid but because my late brother I couldn’t stay there.

“He sent a letter, an official letter from Adebayor’s family to the club that they shouldn’t keep me.

“I’m not saying that’s why they did not keep me, but it can be part of it. Even if it is 10%, it is a lot,” he concluded.
