Again, Nigerians go to the polls today, Saturday, March 9, 2019, to elect governors, states house of assembly members and in the Federal Capital Territory, Council Chairmen and councillors.
Governorship elections are expected to hold in 29 states, while the states assembly poll is expected to elect 991 members of Houses of Assembly in all the states of the Federation.
In the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, voters are to elect six Chairmen and 62 councillors for the Area Councils in the Capital Territory.
Supplementary elections will also hold in 14 states of the federation covering seven Senatorial Districts and 24 federal constituencies.
The supplementary elections are holding in places where the Presidential and national assembly elections could not hold on February 23 due to logistics reasons or as a result of electoral fraud, violence and thuggery.

Chairman of the Independent to National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Friday assured that the commission was ready and prepared to conduct a better organised election today than the February 23, process.
He also assured that the polls will open at 8:a.m as against what obtained at the last elections where materials arrived late at many polling units across the country.
The INEC Chairman warned that the commission would not tolerate manhandling of its staff, threatening to cancel results from polling units where the commission’s staff are harassed.
Yakubu also announced that any candidate that forces the commission’s official to declare them winner will not be given Certificate of Returns.
