He arrived the premises of the court some minutes before 9 a.m amid tight security but with a large number of supporters on hand.

Fayose had presented himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Tuesday, October 16, a day after his tenure as governor expired.

Prior to that, he had written the financial crimes body intimating it that he would be making himself available on the said day by 1p.m. True to his word, he arrived the EFCC Abuja office by 12.59 on the 16th accompanied by some friends and associates among whom were, human rights lawyer and activist, Mike Ozhekhome, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode.

Fayose had presented himself wearing a T-shirt with the inscription, ‘EFCC, I’m here,’ and clutching a small hand bag.

While still in office, Fayose was accused of corruption by the EFCC. The agency attempted to begin investigations into his activities back then, but Fayose consistently maintained that he would not answer any queries from the commission until he had left office.

On arrival at the EFCC office, while addressing journalists and his supporters, he said; “I’m a man who stands by his words and I hope that after today, those President Buhari’s men that have been accused of corruption will also be bold enough to submit themselves to the @officialEFCC.”

He arrived Lagos on board Max Air Flight Number VM1643.
