The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Wednesday declared a total strike to press home the demand for the implementation of the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
The declaration was made following the outcome of a meeting between the leadership of the labour union held with the federal government on the issue.
Other major stakeholders, including the Trade Union Congress (TUC) also attended the meeting.

The meeting, however, did not yield fruit.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at a press conference, the National President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, disclosed that a total strike would be embarked upon midnight Wednesday.
He called on workers to be ready for a showdown as he urged them to comply with the order given.
