Bauchi State Government, in conjunction with Albasar International Foundation, has offered free eye treatment for thousands of Bauchi residents.

It would be recalled that Bauchi State Governor, Muhammed Abubakar invited specialist eye doctors from Albasar International Foundation, Nigeria, to dispense free eye services to patients with eye ailments through the Ministry of Health with direct supervision of the Commissioner, Dr. Zuwaira Hassan.

Screening and provision of free medical services including surgery has been offered to more than 10,000 people across the state.

This is the 4th time the government of the state under Abubakar is sponsoring such exercise.

Below is the report of the just concluded eye camp at the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi:

  1. 11,080 patients were seen and examined.
  2. 6,000 patients received eye medications.
  3. 3,000 patients received eye glasses.
  4. 442 patients were operated in total, out of which:

  1. 407 patients were operated for Cataract
  2. 25 patients operated for Pterigium

iii. 3 patients operated for Glaucoma

  1. 2 patients operated for Entropion
  2. 5 patients operated for Chalazion.
