The Presidency has said that it is probing an audio said to be the voice of Leah Sharibu to be sure of its authenticity.

Sharibu is one of the girls abducted by the terrorists group, Boko Haram, on February 21 in Dapchi.

No fewer than 110 girls were abducted from their school, Dapchi Government Science and Technical School, Yobe State.

After 33 days, the girls were returned, but without Sharibu.

While five of the girls were said to have died, Sharibu was said to have been held back because she refused to be converted to Islam from Christianity.

However, a report published by The Cable, an online publication, announced an audio in circulation in which Sharibu was said to be calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to help her out of her situation.

But in its reaction, the Presidency said the State Security Service, SSS, was already analyzing the audio to be sure of its originality.

According to a tweet by President Buhari’s media aide, Mallam Garba Shehu, the reaction of the Presidency would be based on the outcome of the probe.

The tweet reads:  “We are aware of the audio in circulation concerning the unfortunate situation of our daughter, Leah Sharibu. In dealing with terrorists, nothing is too trivial.

“The secret service is analysing the voice. Our reaction will follow the outcome of the investigation. For President Buhari, nothing will be spared in bringing all our girls home. He will not rest until all of them are freed.”
