The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has described the legislators who defected from his party to others on Tuesday as mere mercenaries.

He said he was happy they left the party before the electioneering campaign.

Oshiomhole made the remark on Tuesday shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking with State House Correspondent, he said their  exit would enable the party focus on the preparations ahead of the 2019 elections.

Oshiomhole said the legislators were merely in the party to win election.

Stressing that their defection would not bring about any electoral misfortune to the party, Oshiomhole said that Buhari got more votes than them in their different constituencies.

He said all they were interested in was to “share the money.”

In just one day, the APC lost 15 of its members in the Senate while 36 dumped it in the House of Representatives.

The House of Representatives members who defected said they left because of the disunity in the party.
