The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said that the position of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on the alleged certificate scam involving the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, represents the position of the government.

Mohammed made this declaration on Wednesday shortly after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He spoke in response to a question about the position of the Federal Government over the alleged scam.

His words:  “I have nothing to add to what the NYSC has said. The NYSC is part of government and it has spoken.”

In reaction to the alleged forgery of the exemption certificate by Adeosun, the NYSC said it would carry out an investigation to determine the origin of the said forged document.

The reaction reads:  “Our attention has been drawn to the issue of the alleged forgery of an NYSC exemption certificate by the Honorable Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.

“Checking our records, Mrs. Adeosun did apply for an exemption certificate. We shall investigate the origin of the purported exemption certificate in question.”
