The fire outbreak at a section of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, in Minna, Niger State will not affect supply of petroleum to Minna and other areas.

This assurance was given on Monday by the Managing Director of Nigerian Pipeline and Storage Company, Mr Luke Anele.

He said the fire outbreak had been put under control.

It would be recalled that a section of the NNPC in Pogo Village, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State on Sunday went up in flame.

The Niger Police Command on Sunday had deployed armed personnel to prevent people from scooping petroleum products at the NNPC pipeline that exploded.

However, speaking with journalists on the incident, Anele said there was no need to worry as measures had been put in place to evacuate the spills in order to make sure the environment was safe.

He said the extent of the damage caused was already being assessed.

While debunking the allegation that the problem was as a result of poor maintenance of facilities, he said NNPC would continue to maintain its facilities well.
