Plateau: 1 person killed, nine cows rustled in fresh attack

The Nigeria Police Force has reported a fresh attack in Plateau State, leading to the death of one person and the rustling of nine cows.

The deceased, 46 years old Adamu Dung, is a member of a vigilance group.

He was said to be shot dead by suspected herdsmen at Kangan community in Jos South local government area of  Plateau State.

According to the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Terna Tyopev, the attack was carried out at about 7.00 a.m.

The cows affected were said to belong to Anglican Archbishop of Jos, Benjamin Kwashe.

The police spokesman said investigation into the case with the aim of arresting the culprits had begun.

It would be recalled that well over 100 persons were killed last week by suspected herdsmen who attacked some communities.

Security has since been tightened in the affected areas.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other prominent persons in the country have visited the state to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the loss of lives.
