World Cup 2018: Saraki leads others to cheer Eagles against Iceland

Some top Nigerians, including Senate President Bukola Saraki, will be on hand to cheer the Super Eagles to victory on Thursday.

The Super Eagles is meeting Iceland in its second match in Group D of the ongoing World Cup.

It would be recalled that Senate President Bukola Saraki is in Russia on a visit to the Russian Parliament.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed Saraki’s plan to be present at the stadium to cheer the Super Eagles.

The statement by the NFF as issued by its Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, reads in part:  “Also, certain to be on ground to support the three-time African champions at the 45,000-capacity Volgograd Arena are the Ambassador of Nigeria to the Russian Federation, His Excellency Prof. Steve Ugbah.

“The Permanent Secretary in the Youth and Sports Ministry, Olusade Adesola, Nigeria’s IOC Member Habu Gumel and a full complement of the NFF Executive Committee led by the President, Amaju Pinnick.

“There will also be distinguished Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, Members of the NFF Congress, Directors in the Ministry.”

Also to witness the match, the statement said, are management and staff of NFF, football stakeholders including former presidents and secretaries-general of the NFF, a large number of members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club and Nigerians resident in Russia.
