National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Thursday took a swipe at the leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, describing it as deceptive.

He warned Nigerians not to accept the apology tendered by the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, saying it was a move designed to gain political advantage.

Secondus, last week, apologised to Nigerians for the mistakes committed by the PDP while in government.

He also pleaded with Nigerians to give the party a second chance in the coming election.

But speaking at the colloquium organised to celebrate his 66th birthday, Tinubu dismissed the apology of the PDP as deceptive.

He said the PDP, through alleged massive looting of the treasury, brought the country into its present economic problem.

His words:  “Nigerians should not accept PDP’s apologies, they are corrupt, they lied, they falsified, they changed figures.

“For 16 years, they made fake promises, gave us fake figures, and they tell us ‘Don’t talk about it’.

“It is like, after catching a thief and he tells you: ‘Don’t look at me, go and steal your own’.”

He said with the resources at the disposal of the PDP, it had the opportunity to transform the country, but unfortunately, it squandered it.

Tinubu campaigned for his party, giving hope that the change the APC promised would be delivered.

He said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government was already taking steps towards achieving that despite the challenges.

According to him, “The voyage is on, the voyage of hope, the voyage that will change Nigeria for the better.”

He described the social investment programmes of the government as very effective.

According to him, it had been useful in empowering millions of Nigerians.

President Buhari who also spoke at the occasion was full of praises for Tinubu.

He described him as a political strategist who cared for the people.
