The visit to President Muhammadu Buhari’s residence in Daura, Katsina State by All Progressives Congress, APC, was one of condolence and nothing more.

Chairman of the APC Governors ’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, made this known while speaking with journalists after a closed door meeting with Buhari.

He said contrary to the insinuation that they were in Daura to persuade the president to go for a second term in 2019, the governors were there to commiserate with Buhari who lost two of his family members.

The APC governors, Okorocha added, also praised Buhari for appointing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to reconcile the warring factions in the party.

His words:  “We are yet to discuss that. That would be in the next meeting where we will discuss whether we want to support him to run or not.

“But for now we came on the issue of the death of his two relatives and to commend him for the action taken on  Tinubu as a conciliator.’’

Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State corroborated Okorocha, adding that the appointment of Tinubu was a well thought out idea.

“After the condolences, we had some very intimate discussion that further bound our relationships and affinity together and I believe this is a continuation of our closed association and support, loyalty and commitment to Mr. President’s cause and Nigeria’s cause,’’ he said.
