Herdsmen: Six arrested over Adamawa clash

The Police Command in Adamawa State has arrested six people linked to the latest clash between herdsmen and farmers in Simba and Shure villages of Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, made this known on Tuesday when briefing journalists in Yola.

He also warned the public against taking the law into their hands.

About ten people were reported to have been killed in the clash between the herdsmen and farmers.

Five villages were also said to have been completely burnt down

It was gathered that the conflict started when herds of cattle overran a water pond, the only source of drinking water for the community.

A woman was also said to have been attacked in the process.

One of the villagers who was attacked because he complained about the invasion rushed back to the village bleeding as a result of the machete cut he got from the herdsmen.

The villagers were said to have mobilized themselves and go to the pond where trouble started with the herdsmen.

Four herdsmen were said to have died in the encounter.

In return, however, return, the herdsmen were reported to have attacked Simba and Shure villages and other adjourning communities.
