Kidnapped foreigners released –Police

The four foreigners – two Americans and two Canadians – kidnapped on Tuesday by some gunmen have been set free.

They were kidnapped along the Kwoi-Jere Road in Kaduna State on their way to Abuja from Kafanchan.

The two police escorts with the foreigners were killed by the gunmen.

Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Agyole Abeh, who confirmed the release of the foreigners, said they were set free as a result of the efforts of the police who embarked on the manhunt for the criminals.

He said the exercise was carried out by a joint force of the Kaduna State police command the Inspector General of police Special Anti-kidnapping squad.

He said while one suspect was arrested, the police were still trailing others.

The police boss called for the support of members of the public with useful information.

He gave the assurance that the police was committed to ensuring a crime free society.
