Governors in the South of the country under the aegis of the Southern State Governors’ Forum on Monday restated their commitment to one indivisible Nigeria.
The governors who met in Lagos on Monday also stressed their support for the campaign for true federalism and devolution of power.
The position of the governors were contained in a communiqué read by the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode.
It would be recalled that Ambode and the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, were the co-host of the occasion.
Ambode, in the communiqué also pointed out that the governors resolved to be united in their commitment to the growth of their part of the country through, among other things, economic development.
Some of the areas of importance in the deliberations of the governors are security of lives and property of citizens and provision of good infrastructure.

Ambode was appointed the chairman of the forum while Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and David Umahi of Ebonyi State were appointed as co-chairmen.
The governors agreed to meet in Port Harcourt for the next meeting.
The date of the meeting is yet to be fixed.
Present at the occasion were Governors Ayo Fayose of Ekiti; Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun; Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo; Rauf Aregbesola of Osun and Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo.
Also present were the Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Godwin Obaseki of Edo; Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Mr Emmanuel Udom Akwa Ibom State and David Umahi of Ebonyi.
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was absent.
The Deputy Governors of Anambra, Dr. Nkem Okeke , and Cross River State, Prof. Ivara Esu were also present at the event.
