The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, LAUTECH, Chapter, on Thursday, suspended the strike it embarked upon.

In a statement by the Chairman ASUU, LAUTECH Chapter, Dr. Biodun Olaniran and the Secretary, Dr. Toyin Abegunde, the union urged all its members to comply with the directive suspending the strike.

The suspension was sequel to the decision of the congress held on  October 17, 2017, which reviewed the strike.

During the congress, the union decided to conditionally suspend the action in the interest of “our students, the intervention of well-meaning individuals and general public.”

ASUU said in suspending the strike, it would take into cognisance, efforts of the Governing Council towards an amicable resolution of the crisis.

It said, “The Union wishes to give the Governing Council and the Administration the opportunity to explore their good will in seeing to a permanent resolution of issues in contention.”

Full academic activities, the union said, were expected to resume on Monday October 23, 2017.
