As Christians celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a clergy, Revd Father Gabriel Tyoga, has urged all faithful to imbibe the lessons from the season.

According to him, the lessons are that of being true witnesses of Christ, being respectful to elders and constituted authorities and being prayerful and love for one another.

Revd Tyoga who gave the advice on Sunday during an Easter Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Mission, Nyon, Makurdi, said Christians must be true witnesses of Christ and must show respect to elders.

In a homily, Revd Tyoga recalled that when the news about Christ resurrection was heard, John got to the tomb first, stooped to look but did not go in. He allowed Peter, the leader of the apostles to go in first before he and the others who also got there first went in. Here we saw respect for elders and we are called to do this today also.

“If it were in our days, we would have gone in first with our Apple Pro Max, iPhones, Android Phones and the rest, so that we try to get the pictures first and try to upload them on the internet first before anybody”

He urged Christians particularly the young ones to emulate John saying
“We have elders in the church, places of work and places where we do our businesses. We need to learn to respect them.

The clergy who also urged Christians to be prayerful and have faith in Christ said “Another lesson is that through the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Christ, anyone planning for your downfall will not succeed.”

He, therefore, urged the faithful to use the period to encourage and show love to one another.

Meanwhile, worshippers who spoke to the Next Edition expressed gratitude for the love of God.
