The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said 1,133 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus in Nigeria in the last 24 hours.
The disease control agency released the figure in an update published late Wednesday night on its website.
It said the new infections were reported from 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with Lagos, Abuja and Kaduna leading.
The agency further disclosed that five deaths were recorded while 395 cases were discharged on the day in review.

Among the discharges were 134 community recoveries in Lagos State and 96 community recoveries in the FCT managed in line with guidelines.
The NCDC update read: “On the 23rd of December 2020, 1,133 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
“Till date, 80,922 cases have been confirmed, 69,274 cases have been discharged and 1,236 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 1,133 new cases are reported from 18 states- Lagos (397), FCT (357), Kaduna (81), Plateau (63), Katsina (46), Sokoto (32), Oyo (28), Ogun (21), Kano (19), Rivers (18), Osun (13), Edo (12), Niger (12), Bayelsa (11), Borno (11), Bauchi (8), Jigawa (2), and Ondo (2).”
