President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the government and people of Rivers over the death of eminent jurist and legal icon, Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte.

The President conveyed his condolences through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Saturday.

Buhari prayed God to comfort those who mourn the deceased, especially his family, the academia, Nigerian Bar Association, Body of Benchers as well as friends and associates.

He commended late Karibi-Whyte’s contributions to law and jurisprudence in Nigeria and beyond, adding that he left a legacy of integrity and nationalism.

Buhari also noted that Karibi-Whyte used his knowledge, wisdom and experience in serving the nation.

According to him, Karibi-Whyte played historic roles in growing Nigeria’s legal system, strengthening democratic institutions and shaping the policy direction of many governments and international agencies.

He prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest.

Karibi-Whyte’s death was announced on Friday by one of his sons.

He was aged 88.
