Three Children Drown In Ondo River

Three girls aged between seven and 10 have drowned in River Oluwa, in Sabo area of Ondo Town, Ondo West Local Government Area.

The sad incident occurred on Friday, April 24.

The names of the victims were given as Iyabo Isiaka, Nife Akinnuoye and Seun Segun.

The Nation quoted sources as saying that the children fell off a bridge and into the river.

The sources said the deceased children had gone to the river allegedly to play and swim.

The divers who volunteered to save the children were said to have arrived late as they found their lifeless bodies floating on the river.

Another source said nobody was aware of the incident until a boy saw one of the victims floating on the river.

The deceased girls have been buried by their parents.

Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident, affirming the claim that the children fell off a bridge.
