Away from the farmer/herder crisis and other tribal and religious conflicts in Benue state, the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic has brought unity among the Christian and Muslim communities in the state, the Vice Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bishop Mike Angou, has said.

correspondent in Makurdi, said both Christians and Muslims have realized COVID-19 which he described as a “common enemy” is no respecter of tribe or religion, hence the resolve to remain united and support government to safeguard the lives of citizens.
The CAN official who enumerated what the church is doing to complement government efforts in the fight against the disease said his Chairman, Mr. Akpen Leva, has ensured that the church sensitised its followers on the preventive measures set out by government.
“The CAN Chairman is a very assiduous man and in assisting him, what we are doing as a church is sensitizing our people to know the truth that this disease that has threatened even the big powers like America, China, Uk and the G7 is real and it is colossus. For America to lose 3000 souls is not an easy thing and we should know that first.

“The Christians and Muslim community are on the same page because this news is open, out for them; what the Christians are hearing is the same as what the Muslim are hearing and they all know that the enemy which is COVID-19 doesn’t know tribe or religions and this has also brought about unity among Christians and Muslims because there is a common enemy and we must put hands together to be able to fight this common enemy,” Angou said.
