Gov. Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday inaugurated the remodeled Accident and Emergency  wing of the Murtala Mohammed Hospital in Kano.
The remodeling and equipping of the emergency section of the hospital was part of the Governor’s efforts towards improving the services of the state-owned health facilities in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Yusuf said the remodeling and equipping of the oldest hospital in the state became necessary looking at its dilapidated condition at the time of assumption of office.
“We felt it necessary to correct the dilapidated condition of the hospital for the benefit of teeming populace that are visiting the facility from across the West African States,” he said.
Yusuf appreciated the work done in giving the section a face-lift and putting in place modern equipment for the provision of quality medical care to emergency cases and accident victims.
The governor commended the officials of the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders who contributed in making the project a reality.
On voluntary health workers assisting in the operations of the section, Yusuf expressed happiness with what they were doing.
He directed the Commissioner for Health to come up with an initiative of reciprocating the gesture by the state government in appreciation of their sacrifices. ( NAN)
