A group of women, under the auspices of Pepperito Women on Thursday went on a road show in Lagos to show support of Mr Bayo Osinowo, the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Lagos East.
The road show, accompanied with loud music blaring from speakers mounted on some vehicles took off from Jibowu in Yaba area and ended in Ikorodu town.
The Director, Women Affairs for Bayo Osinowo Campaign Organisation, Kafilat Ogbara, said that the show was to mobilise women to cast their votes for the candidate as well as educate the electorate on the proper way to cast their vote.
According to her, women have an important role to play in politics
She said; “This road show is to sensitise, educate, enlighten and mobilise women to be prepared for the forthcoming general elections in Lagos State.
“There is a very vital role for women to play in politics. Politics shapes our lives and it is part of our day to day activities, so it is very important for every woman in the society to be part of the process.
“Women should not say politics is violent and stay away, because by doing so, what is due to women won’t get to them.”
Ogbara further explained that the road show was also to ensure people know how to vote to avoid their votes being be voided by electoral the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Ogbara urged the residents, especially the women, to cast their votes for Osinowo, who at present is a fourth term lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, noting that he has affected many lives in the state and would gladden the hearts of women if given the mandate to represent the senatorial district.

“Honourable Bayo Osinowo has the capacity to represent Lagos East. It is all he has done in the constituency in the last 16 years in the House of Assembly that made people to present him to represent them in the senate.
“Everybody has endorsed him because he has affected everybody in the district directly or indirectly through road infrastructure, schools, healthcare centres and lots more.
“We have over 5,000 women in this road show drawn from the Lagos East Senatorial district and notable women all over the state have joined us also.
“We are appealing to our women to be patient on the elections days, ensure they are not disenfranchised, but cast their votes for APC candidates.
“We are happy to be part of the political class and we are encouraging every woman including the professionals to be part of the process. They have to be responsible politically.
Ogbara urged those yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to go and do so to be able to participate in the poll.
