Despite unfulfilled promises by federal and state governments on its members’ welfare, the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and Assembly of Healthcare Professionals (AHPA) have assured that they will not abandon the country to its fate and allow Coronavirus to ravage it.
The assurance was contained in a joint statement on Wednesday by Comrade Bio-Joy Josiah and Ekpebor Florence, National Chairman and National Secretary of JOHESU, respectively.
They noted that most of their members were currently stationed at various border and entry points, emergency units, Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and in isolation centres across the country, rendering selfless services to curtail the spread of the virus.
The union urged her members to continue to give their best by showing resilience and commitment to combating the dreaded COVID-19 menace.

According to JOHESU’s leadership, government at both federal and state levels should reciprocate by providing the needed tools like Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and other necessary gadgets for the protection of members at this trying time.
Josiah said despite agitations among health workers over unfulfilled commitments and promises from federal and state governments, health workers had stood tall as first responders in stemming the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
JOHESU also lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his broadcast on COVID-19, while demanding inclusion of her members in the implementation of the various economic stimulus measures, interventions and palliatives mentioned to motivate health professionals and staff.
