The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that a detached Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, electrical cable on Sunday caused a fire outbreak under the Odo-Iya Alaro Bridge inward Ojota.
The fire led to the destruction of 15 shops and other properties at the Owode-Onirin market.
This was disclosed by the Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu, in Lagos on Sunday.

He said investigation revealed that a 32KVA electrical cable which detached from the pole, fell on combustible items such as plastics and papers resulting to the fire that destroyed 15 shops and damaged other property at the Owode-Oniri Market in Lagos State on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, Oke-Osanyintolu had disclosed that the fire which started around 10:20a.m began at electrical section in the market.
No injury was recorded in the incident and no life was lost.
The LASEMA boss said the fire was immediately put off by the LASEMA Response Team, Federal Fire Service and Lagos State Fire Service.
