Accolades and congratulatory messages have continued to pour in for former Nigerian Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, following her appointment, Thursday, on the board of Twitter.

Her Twitter followers have gone to town with praises over her achievements.

Some went as far as calling on her to become the next President of Nigeria.

Imoh Umoren@ImohUmoren, in a tweet said: “I wish Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala becomes the President of Nigeria someday… Brilliant woman who understands the problems and has the spine to try and solve them.”

CONSIGLIORE@iykebufo tweeted: “Who can we beg to talk to Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to please campaign to be the first competent, intelligent and capable President of Nigeria in 2019? Guys please let’s do this for God, Country & Children.”

Others include Bebeteidoh Oyins@oyinkepreye who tweeted: “In you, Twitter has made a great choice. Thank God Nigeria has the likes of you.”

Ola Brown@NaijaFlyingDr: “Big congratulations to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for being appointed to board of @Twitter.”

Umahi Chuks@CaptainJarr: “Congratulations Madam, Nigerians are proud of your achievement. I pray you to continue to be a shining light everywhere you go.”

AJALA JALINGO@UNCLE_AJALA: “Congratulations to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Finance Minister in Nigeria,  for being appointed to the board of @Twitter.  While her replacement relegated to recession, forged NYSC certificate, she’s soaring higher and those that mocked her are now praising her.”

Okonjo-Iweala was announced a member of the board of Twitter as a new independent director on Thursday.

The appointment is with immediate effect.

She was appointed alongside Robert Zoellick, an American lawyer and former President of World Bank.

Announcing the appointment in San Francisco, Omid Kordestani, executive chairman of Twitter said, “Ngozi and Bob are distinguished leaders with unparalleled global perspective and policy expertise. We are confident they will be incredible assets to Twitter as we continue to focus on driving transparency and making Twitter a safer, healthier place for everyone who uses our service.”

Reacting to the appointment, Okonjo-Iweala said: “Twitter is a powerful platform that continues to be used as a strong connector for the global community, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team.

“As we strive to build a better world for tomorrow, Twitter can amplify messages and drive critical conversations around today’s most important issues. I look forward to partnering with Twitter’s talented directors and leadership team as we work to leverage the power of Twitter for good.”

Also in a tweet on her official handle @NOIweala, she said:  “It’s a privilege to work again with Bob. Look forward to contributing to the strong and visionary future for @Twitter.”
