The Director General of Gbajabiamila’s Campaign Organization, Abdulmumin Jibrin has described as myth suggestions that Femi Gbajabiamila is a stooge for Bola Tinubu.
He said the mythical story surrounding Tinubu and Gbajabiamila has been over estimated, stressing that most political office seekers in Nigeria have their mentors.
He also said that no single individual can control the House of the Representatives no matter how highly placed.
Jibrin disclosed this during a live television programme monitored in Lagos on Wednesday.
“I believe that there is much myth surrounding that, so I think the whole story of Bola Tinubu myth over Femi Gbajabiamila is over estimated. But whoever you bring to seek the office of the Speaker has a mentor and someone that can influence him and I think that it is abnormal to have a politician who does not have somebody who can tell him something to listen, so while you look at the negative, there is need to look at the reality and positive aspect of such an issue,” he said.
Jibrin dispelled the fears in some quarters that Tinubu will have overbearing influence on the assembly when his anointed candidates come on board, stressing that no single individual would control the incoming House of Representatives.
He described Gbajabiamila as the best candidate for the Speakership job, noting that he had garnered the needed experience that will enable him pilot the affairs of the incoming House.

He said, “In any case, the House of Representatives is a unique institution and there is no one individual that can control the House, I have said it repeatedly that Femi is not going to be a Speaker for the APC, he is going to be the Speaker for the 360 members of the House and he is going to run an all inclusive House because that is the reality of the moment,” he said.
“Hon Gbajabiamila is going to introduce the reform that will make the House of Representatives far more effective and efficient so you are going to have the input, the output and a feedback in such a way that there will be time limit on things going in, how it is processed and how it comes out. You will not have the situation where a bill goes into the National of Assembly and it is dumped and it does not come out for a motion or implementation.
“A lot of politics is going on but Femi is going to take advantage of technology to ensure that Nigerians have access to information on the things that are going on in the National Assembly. He is going to lay the emphasis on ensuring that we have town hall meetings, and that our constituency offices are functioning among other things.
So he is going to run a House that is far more productive, this will be built on stability because it is very important for the House to be stable. And for the first time, we are going to have a situation where the party will be getting the exact leadership that it wants and we will sit down and see how the whole setting in terms of some kinds of stability in the relationship between the executive and the legislature will deepen our democracy
