Peaceful Coexistence of people and residents of Abraka Community in Delta state currently being strenghtened, has been attributed to the synergy between the police and other security agencies in the state.
Abraka Community which used to be crisis ridden, at present, is witnessing calm with business activities picking up despite the lockdown order which has adversely affected the economy in the area and the state for four weeks of lockdown.
The state police Commissioner, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah who confirmed this to journalists in Asaba on Tuesday, said that the calm in Abraka Community and its environs, was due to the proactivenes of the security agencies, adding that the police were working hard for its sustainability, especially in the fight against armed robbery, Kidnapping, rape and attack on the people by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
He said; “at the moment, Abraka is calm and peaceful because of the synergy between the police, vigilante and other security agencies and we will continue to ensure consistency in maintaining the peaceful coexistence we have established in Abraka community and its environs.
“You must understand that policing a university community is one of the most difficult area of policing because you are dealing with youths from the 36 states of the Federation, also you are dealing with people with different attitudes, dispositions and perception towards life and you know juvenile deliquency is another thing you must contend with when dealing with youths.”

While dismissing the allegations that the police were working with the suspected Fulani hersdmen in the state, Inuwah said that those involved in the allegations are uninformed, adding that “We have been very proactive by ensuring that we act on information supplied to us about criminal activities. Without doubts, our communication blue print with residents of Abraka Community is yeilding positive results, our men are patrolling all nooks and crannies in the state and towns to ensure security of lives and property.
“We will continue to work around the clock in Abraka to ensure security of lives and property.”
Meanwhile, the Ameobi of Ani Agbala satellite town in Ubulu Uku Community in Delta state, Charles Okolo has alleged that farmers in the community were still being terrorized by suspected Fulani hersdmen.
Okolo who spoke to journalists in the area on Monday decried the alleged attack on the residents, noting that most farmers in the community for fear of being abducted have resorted to farming near their homes, adding “but for how long are we going to farm within our premises? This is not right, and I want to emphasize that we cannot produce food stuffs meaningfully when we cannot make use of our lands that have been overtaken by suspected Fulani hersdmen, and as we stand now, they have taken over our lands and are now rearing cows in those parts of the forest where they now farm.”
He appealed to the state government, security agencies and the stakeholders to wade into the situation and find a lasting solution to the illegal occupation of our farmlands by suspected Fulani herdsmen.”
